Children’s Activities

The Children’s Activities Area contains two large activities tents. Here you will find a variety of fun activities for children of all ages to enjoy!


e976aadb-981a-4887-997b-045dfd0e01aaChildren’s games will be led by our wonderful games host Katlin Doolan for everyone to partake in from 12PM to 4PM. Katlin is a physical education teacher at The French American School of Princeton located in Princeton, NJ. Katlin is very excited to join us at the 42nd Annual New Jersey Folk Festival!

She has many fun activities planned for kids! These activities include; Jump Ropes, Balloon Pop Stomp, Pie Eating Contest at 4 pm, Line Dancing, Crazy Obstacle Course and multiple types of fun races! Arts and crafts will be available for kids to enjoy and personalize. Children’s crafts and face painting will be open from 10AM to 5PM. Our children’s area contains a wide variety of activities that are sure to please and entertain children of all ages!

Face Paint

Children will be able to get everything and anything they want painted on their faces for a fun and colorful day!

Spin Art

For those who enjoy creating colorful masterpieces there will be a spin art station where children will be able to create their very own spin art with a variety of colors.

Coloring Pages

Kids will be able to enjoy coloring fun Bluegrass and Folklore themed coloring pages.


These fun little bugs will be made out of colorful pom poms glued onto clothes pins with silly googley eyes to complete their look.


This simple craft will perfectly embody the life and theme for this years Folk Festival.  Using paper plates, rubber bands and paint mixers children will be able to recreate the upbeat sounds of Bluegrass music at home.


Kids will be able enjoy making maracas out of easter eggs with popcorn kernels inside taped in between two plastic spoon that will be a great musical addition to their banjos!


Another musical instrument children will love putting together is a paper plate tambourine with popcorn kernels inside that will complete their little musical band along with their banjos and maracas.

Pet Rocks

For those who enjoy panting, there will be pet rocks waiting to be decorated and taken home!
